change ur hair gel for a start.What is causing the flaking is the product being used and not washed out properly and its building up like a residue and when u put even more on it kinda drys out and u end up with flaking hair. To get rid of the build up of product on ur hair what to do is,next time in the

shower apply a good amount of shampoo to ur hair while its dry,its no good when ur hair is wet.Give ur hair a really good rub for a few minutes and rinse properly and add a Tiny amount of conditioner,rinse and it should all go away.Have u ever used Wax instead of gel? Dax Wax is what hairdressers use.It comes in a red tin for a style thats got a lot of texture in it,the blue tin is a lot softer,used for adding definition to styles.Give it a go but remember,it may only seem a tiny amount,but only use a tiny amount and if u feel u need a bit more then add a tiny bit(bout size of ur thumb nail),add too much and u wull look like u have not washed ur hair in months. there is no true way to prevent it, if the wind blows u happen to touch it when its dry, your girlfriend touches it, it begins to crack and flake...use some water to get your hair wet lay on the gel, style it and put on some hairspray and you should be good for longer than the average gel...

Look at the ingredients. Most of them containt a large amount of alcohol. So, what you're doing is basically the same as rubbing alcohol on your head. Which dries your skin and it flakes off.

You need a different brand. I've tried most of them and they still end up flaking--looking like dandruff. Best bet is to try different brands--if result is the same, (which it is for me) find one that won't flake 'till the second day...and wash your hair again. Hope that helps. You might also try using mouse or a texterizer product.

using less (dime size) hair gel does not fix your problem believe me i have much experience.

but you should try switching to a diffrent hair gel.

good question. Well in my opinion you should mix something else with the gel. I used to use gel but I didn't like the flaking either. I'm black and native american so I used Pink Lotion and mixed that evenly with whatever gel I was using at the time. If your interested its called Lusters Pink Oil moisturizer. It wasn't too oily and there were no flakes at all and it lasted all throughout the day. You can probablly get the same results using any oil based product.:) -good luck with your problem

if you use gel on to your hair it damages by making it dry and greasy sometimes so i would say just stop using gel just keep ur natural hair nice with nothing

well if thats the case then those hair products that you are using may not be good for your hair. the gel that makes your hair flake may be drying up your scalp even though you may not know it. try something else, something that will work for you, something that wont frizz, or flake your hair. good luck
