Alright, I have tried shaving my pubes off. Before had even got to shave it all, red bumps had appeared. The bumps become itchy and filled with pus. NOT sexy. They itched constantly and made my life a living hell. Yes, I tried many creams and lotions. My razor was sharp (I used a fresh blade) and I used a proper shave gel.
I have tried several waxing kits. They simply do not stick to my hair, leaving a sticky mess all over me without removing a single hair.
Are deplitory (?) creams like Nair effective? Do they cause irritation?
I am 17, so getting laser hair removal or electrolysis is not really an option right now. I just want to be able to wear a swimsuit or shorts without having gross hairs hanging out.
Will a salon be willing to wax a 17 year-old? Are salons willing to remove the hair around the labia and butt?
Can somebody help?

I use Veet, Nair irritates my skin. The bumps are infected hairs, and yes they are a pain in the ***. Try to go with the Brazilian if it bothers you that bad. I don't believe salons have an age limit, but be ready for some pain. You should try the Veet first.

Leave it to beaver!
Better natural and no itch!

Just leave it there. What is more unsightly, huge pusy bumps or a few pubes? Really, most guys don't care if it's shaved or not, so long as they get a front row viewing once in awhile.

What you want is to get a Brazilian Wax at a salon - yes they should do that for you. It leaves a small square inch of hair. If you have very sensitive skin you will most likely still experience some irritation. Try Noxema bikini cream...

I have the same problem. I really do not recommend Nair, it irrattes a lot, just like the razor, and it is super messy. I tried it. For the salon thing, I think you need a parent with you, but you might want to ask, some places probobly have different policies.
Removing Pubic Hair?
yes salons remove it in the front and actually on the cooch. On the but, not many salons do that, but no one gets bumps there.

Go get a Brazilian Bikini wax. They remove all the hair down there. Call a salon to see who can do it. I can't imagine you have to be over 18. It's not dangerous -just painful. if and when you can do the laser removal it's amazing.
Removing Pubic Hair?
I think you have to be 18 for a salon to do waxing. I'm a stylist and my clients have to be at least 18 without a parents consent to do any chemical treatments.
Sorry.
You only have a year to go...and why would you want to be bare down unda? Real men like real women ....who have hair!

Waxing can have the same result (redness and bumps) that you got from shaving. I have really sensitive skin. I use Nair everywhere except my face. After using Nair, I immediately use a anti-bacterial ointment or a cream with aloe in it to prevent redness, irritation, and bumps on sensitive areas such as my pubic area and underarms. Then, I continue to use an exfoliating sponge in the tub daily to reduce/prevent ingrown hairs and bumps.

Nair can do bad things too. If you want to try it, do a small test area first and wait at least a week to see if your skin is going to get irritated.
A salon will remove any hair you want, but go to a good one with lots of experience. Just because they are supposed to be professionals does not mean that it won't cause you irritation as well.
Another option. Just trim it all short. I have a friend who swears using a beard trimmer is the only way to go. Don't cut it right next to the skin, you may still get some irritation from clothes rubbing agianst the short hairs.

I know the problem...been there, done that. Now I'm really, really old. blah, blah, blah. BUT, the guys still like me...yeah buddy! lol
Ask your mom I bet she's experienced this hassel, maybe your dad , if you can get your bikini area done with laser. Maybe your mom will sign up for it too! It is a hassle and the bumps are always there, no matter what treatment I've tried. I've never found anything to avoid that except laser.
the thrill of the complete nude affect becomes less exciting as life moves on. BUT, enjoy your exhilaration, emotions, excitement, infatuation, expectation, crushes, love and all of it. ITS great...keep it burning for as long as you can!

i used to work at a spa and we would allow 18 year olds to get brazillians and stuff if they had parental consent, but i dont know if all spas work the same way. waxing's deffinatly the way to go, prepare for the pain tho.

In FRANCE their are places where you can get a designers cut style with your pubics. YES I know crazy but true. they're people out there who cuts pubic hairs for a living... what a job...... I would hate for that hair to get caught in my mouth tho.

I would recommend you to go first to a professional who knows very well how to do a Brazilian .Ask to do it with hard wax ,its more quick, less painless and less irritating .I use it myself and I use to do my clients(as an estetician) to.We all happy with it,it last up to 4 weeks, and after a couple of waxing its gonna be less hair and less pain.Just take 2 ADVIL tablets before, its gonna be all right.

I vote for the close trim. waxing and laser can be very expensive. You can buy a little hair trimmer and do it yourself. I go to the pool quite often and agree that pesky pubes can be a problem. lol

The most cost effective and least irritating method of pubic hair removal is to use a shaver and trimmer. The most popular by far being the Seiko Cleancut and Shavy Trimmer. Leaves you with baby smooth skin.
Once you have cleanly shaved you will only need to quickly go over the area with the shaver once a week or so.
