preferably not a gel or anything that leaves stickiness in the hair but that holds hair as its styled cos the wind blows my hair all over the place and i need something that doesnt ruin the style if that makes sense. any suggestions welcome. a price would also be quite useful too

I see you stated you prefer not to use a gel, but Dep Gel is a good one. I'm a woman, but I use it all the time (it's for men--sport gel) because it holds so well. It depends on the amount you use as to whether your hair will get really sticky or ruin your style. There's always hairspray. You should be able to find them at Wal-Mart for under $5.00.

Just about any otc product you buy to hold your hair style will tend to make it kinda sticky--depending on how much you use.
